Did you know that the new Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has cited a piece of legislation co-authored by Frank Riggs, as the reason that recently enacted federal education regulations under the "Every Student Succeeds Act" could be nullified?

Frank Riggs, Scottsdale Businessman and former U.S. Congressman and Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee, stated: "As a strong supporter of local control and parental school choice in education, I’m delighted that legislation I co-authored as a member of Congress, the Congressional Review Act (part of the Contract With America), was cited by new Education Secretary Betsy DeVos as the reason that recently enacted federal education regulations under the the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (aka ‘Every Student Succeeds Act’ ) may be nullified.
"In a Feb. 10th letter to Chief State School Officers, DeVos wrote: ‘Congress is currently considering a joint resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act to overturn these regulations. If a resolution of disapproval is enacted, these regulations shall have no force or effect.’ I’m glad Congress is exercising its legislative authority and working with the Trump Administration and the Department of Education under Sec. DeVos to return control of K-12 education to the states and local communities where it rightfully and constitutionally belongs."
According to the Heritage Foundation, "Representative Riggs spearheaded many cutting edge initiatives like school choice and charter schools."
