Key events in 1863 changed our nation forever. Since the beginning of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln struggled to keep the States united. His military leadership severely under-performed and the nation was weary of war. The bitterness and bloodshed of the Civil War reached an all-time high in July at the Battlefield of Gettysburg.
Yet during it all, Lincoln remained committed to the Almighty God and His blessings. In October of 1863 he issued the following official proclamation making the last Thursday in November as a Thanksgiving celebration for the entire nation.

The Magnificent Arizona Republicans
On these two days, June 12 and 13, 2013, in a 12.5 hour legislative session, the Arizona Republican Representatives you will see in this video distinguished themselves forever in Arizona history by doing something remarkable. They stood up for Republican Principles. These are the same principles that are embraced by people who are called, sometimes with contempt, "TEA Party." These are not "Far Right Wing" or even "Conservative" tenets. They are Republican principles and the Republican platform. It is too bad that there are individuals in the Arizona Legislature with an "R" next to their names who do not stand up for these principles. Because there are so many who have cowardly abandoned their own Party, we sometimes call ourselves "Conservative." But the fact is, a conservative is simply someone who stands firmly rooted in Republican principles.

Arizona Sen. Carlyle Begay: “We Must See Ourselves in a Whole New Light”
As noted in a November 24 news article, Senator Carlyle Begay has recently changed from the Democrat to Republican Party. I have never met Sen. Begay, but I’ve observed him and heard his remarks during the last legislative session. He is a highly intelligent, thoughtful, well-educated man. Both Democrats and Republicans can politicize his decision all they want, but I know that he will be guided by his convictions, not politics, whenever he casts his votes. The welfare of his constituents, many of whose ancestors were the First Arizonans, will rank far above either party. He believes that the time has come for his people to achieve prosperity. In fact, he wants all Arizonans to prosper. Please watch this video. Notice the many terms and phrases that he uses. This is what the Republican Party stands for.
In the following video, you will gain some insight into why Senator Begay is adamant that "change must happen" and why he believes it is the Republican Party that is working to find solutions that will help the people that Sen. Begay represents. He explains that "families living within our rural and tribal communities are in a crisis. Unemployment is as high as 80%. Roads, bridges, and infrastructure are wasting away. Many Native American families are without electricity and clean, running water. Native American students have some of the lowest graduation rates and some of the highest drop-out rates. Native Americans have the highest rates of suicide in the country." Senator Begay desires to work within the Republican Party to build a bridge connecting those who need and want a chance with those who can help provide that chance. The Republican Party is the party of progress, the party of opportunity. It is, now, Senator Begay’s Party.

In an unusual move for Republican Party politics, Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord decided to endorse Litchfield Park City Councilwoman Diane Landis in her race against State Representatives Steve Montenegro and Darin Mitchell in large part because Montenegro and Mitchell were both conservatives and, as she put it, “What have conservatives ever accomplished at the federal or state level? Nothing, except saying ‘No!’”

All of the statewide offices are up, and it is critical that we elect candidates that will preserve liberty (especially for Governor!). Please take a minute to nominate those candidates you would like to see on the ballot for 2014. Visit the Secretary of State’s Voter Authentication site and fill in your information. It will take you to a page where you can digitally sign petitions for statewide candidates." You can also make a $5 Qualifying Contribution, if applicable.
