Alabama: Legal Citizens Take Jobs Vacated by Illegal Aliens

Remember the gloom and doom headlines last October?
“The Grim Reality of Life Under Alabama’s Brutal Immigration Law.”

“Brutal” immigration law?

What about this one:
“Alabama Immigration: Crops Rot as Workers Vanish to Avoid Crackdown.”

Well, here’s one you won’t find in the liberal press:
“Alabama Jobless Rate Falls Amid Immigration Reform.”

The article begins, “Alabama’s unemployment rate fell at a record pace in November amid stepped-up efforts by President Barack Obama’s deputies to frustrate enforcement of the state’s popular new immigration law.”

What is amazing about this article is the lengths to which the Obama Administration will go to thwart the efforts of Alabama to protect its legal citizens against the hardships they have had to face caused by illegal aliens. Civil-Regulation Chief Tom Perez of the Department of Justice (“Injustice” is more like it) has visited Alabama many times trying to get people to make claims of discrimination. He’s filing a lawsuit to cripple the reform.

The mainstream media supports Perez’s efforts by focusing on the suffering of illegal aliens, and ignoring the suffering of legal citizens.

Using his Department of Injustice club, Perez is also going after Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, listing a bunch of complaints against him and telling Sheriff Arpaio that he will stop helping him enforce federal immigration laws.

Perez is a real piece of work. Because the Obama Administration is cracking down on immigration enforcement by several states, Hispanic lobbies have promised to spur turnout by Democratic-leaning Hispanic voters in 2012.

In the meantime, 600 American citizens now have jobs that they didn’t have 6 months ago.
