Former Congressman Matt Salmon stated, "With the threat of a nuclear Iran continuing to increase, a close relationship between the U.S. and Israel is more vital than ever to the national security of both nations. Israel is, and has proven time and time again to be, America’s only true and trusted ally in the Middle East; it is a relationship that must always remain strong and mutually supportive. Supporting and protecting the state of Israel was something I took a lead role on during my previous tenure in Congress, and I will renew this leadership role once again when I return to Washington."

Later today, Salmon will also attend the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference Gala Dinner in Washington, D.C., where he will hear from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

AIPAC’s mission is to strengthen the ties between the United States and its ally Israel. As America’s leading pro-Israel lobby, AIPAC works with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to enact public policy that enhances the U.S.-Israel relationship.

AIPAC’s staff and citizen activists educate decision makers about the bonds that unite the United States and Israel and how it is in America’s best interest to help ensure that the Jewish state is safe, strong, and secure.

Cooperation between the two countries is advantageous for both nations. AIPAC urges all members of Congress to support Israel through foreign aid, government partnerships, joint anti-terrorism efforts, and the promotion of a negotiated two-state solution – a Jewish state of Israel and a demilitarized Palestinian state.
