This statement was made by Bartle Bull, an attorney and veteran rights activist from the 1960’s, who worked for Democratic candidates Charles Evers in Mississippi, Robert F Kennedy, and Jimmy Carter, when asked to comment on the New Black Panthers’ actions in Philadelphia. So distrusting of Barack Obama, Bartle Bull refused to campaign for him, calling Obama a "hustler." Instead, he did what he could to help John McCain.
In a sworn affidavit (see reference below), Bull says he witnessed King Samir Shabazz pointing his nightstick at people and "slap it in his hand." He further stated, "I watched the two uniformed men confront voters, and attempt to intimidate voters…The weapon was openly displayed and brandished in plain sight of voters." Bull notes that in his forty years of involvement in politics and civil rights, he had "never encountered or heard of another instance in the United States where armed and uniformed men blocked the entrance to a polling location."
The Department of Justice, through the recommendation of Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez of the Civil Rights Division, that "the facts and the law did not support going forward with the case," demanded dismissal of all charges against King Samir Shabazz and the New Black Panthers.
It is the same Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez, from the same illustrious and trustworthy Department Of Justice, that is accusing Sheriff Joe Arpaio of "racial profiling."
