Gilbert Watch Apologizes to GCA Parents and Supporters

Recently, I published an article titled "Gilbert School Board Divides the Community." The post included four photos from the meeting of 10/2/2012. The majority school board members voted to close Gilbert Junior High School, dispersing the students there to other schools, and turning the school over to GCA students who needed a larger school. The point of my article and photos was to place the blame for dividing the Gilbert community where it belonged: on the majority Board, as so clearly stated by Karen Udall in her letter which I posted, titled, Former GPS Board Member Endorses Dayl Colvin, Eric Johnson, and Julie Smith for School Board!.

In my article, "Gilbert School Board Divides the Community," I included a photo in the post of Gilbert Classical Academy parents and supporters standing and cheering. I stated in the post that they were cheering and clapping when they discovered that the GPS majority board had voted to close Gilbert Junior High School. I had been informed that this photo had been captured at the end of the vote.

I had been misinformed, and now I know that the Truth is that the photo depicted a warm welcome to the GCA Principal, Ms. Jodie Dean, when she was introduced to speak.

My intent was not to mislead anyone or to misrepresent the GCA community. Gilbert Watch often relies on outside sources. Ultimately the responsibility is mine to reverify information.

I sincerely apologize to those in the photo and in attendance at that meeting and for the pain this caused them.

I have removed the post in its entirety.
