Message to the Arizona Legislature: Stop the Spending Spree!

On July 1, 2010, the Goldwater Institute reported that Arizona is still spending at record levels despite a $2.7 billion dollar budget deficit and an 18 percent state sales tax increase (Prop 100) to help fix it.
“It’s hard to believe that after falling billions of dollars into the red, the state is still spending more money than ever,” said Goldwater Institute economist Byron Schlomach. “Lawmakers should do the one thing guaranteed to slow down the spending clock – reduce spending.”
“There goes the notion that government is doing more with less,” said Steve Voeller, president of the Arizona Free Enterprise Club. “It’s doing more because it has more.”
What can an Arizona taxpayer do?
