Plain Logic: Constitutional Law and Executive Orders

by Rusdon Ray, president of The Defenders of Liberty

Recently, The President of the United States signed 23 Executive Actions. We were told by the media and thought and believed leading up to the signing, that it was all in relation to gun control or the Second Amendment.  We were naive. The President and his cabinet not only violated the Second Amendment but also the First Amendment regarding additional requirements on religion, the Fourth Amendment regarding unwarranted and unreasonable searches and seizures, and the Fifth Amendment of right to remain silent and due process for self-incrimination etc. and the Tenth Amendment of states rights and "any law not specifically delegated to the federal government in the US Constitution is reserved to the states." All of these 23 mandates signed into law today blatantly violate the Constitution of the United States of America.

Truth and Justice support those laws that maintain our rights and liberty. Deceit and Injustice support unconstitutional law that violates the rights and privileges of others. Elected representatives, government officials, doctors, businessmen, church leaders, or private citizens who violate the US Constitution and the principles of freedom, regardless of any man-made justification through law or executive action, are in violation of God’s law. There are times when obeying God’s law and obeying man’s law come in direct opposition.

Holy Bible: Acts chapter 4 verse 19: "But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye."

Times like this are given to prove who we are. Such trying times can be seen as punishment for disobedience and disregard to God’s Law, or such times can be seen as a blessing. "Faithful Christians will always be blessed to experience difficulties and disappointments. When these refining challenges come, we may be tempted to return to our old ways." Robert D. Hales, or as  Thomas Payne said, "These are the times that try men’s Souls"

The President and his cabinet violated the First, Second, Fourth, Fifth, and Tenth Amendments simply by signing the 23 executive actions. Who among us will violate the Constitution as well by enforcing, complying with, or sustaining such orders or laws or mandates in our government, businesses, churches, or personal lives?  Let us be found on the side of God’s Law.

Doctrine and Covenants Section 98 verses 4-7:

"And now, verily I say unto you concerning the laws of the land, it is my will that my people should observe to do all things whatsoever I command them. And that law of the land which is constitutional, supporting that principle of freedom in maintaining rights and privileges, belongs to all mankind, and is justifiable before me. Therefore, I, the Lord, justify you, and your brethren of my church, in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land; And as pertaining to law of man, whatsoever is more or less than this, cometh of evil."
