Will God Survive in Amerika? We have a Choice

Amerika vs America

We live in a divided country:  Amerika and America.   The majority of voters chose Amerika when they chose Barack Obama as their president.  Those who embrace Amerika may not see it that way, but we who live in America know the difference.  In choosing Barack Obama, Amerikans chose gay marriage, abortion, ObamaCare, illegals rewarded with citizenship, “spreading the wealth” by taking from those who produce and giving it to those who don’t; the death of free markets, abdication of responsibility, growing entitlement demands, and an Amerikan malpracticing media.

These Amerikans have been systematically forcing Christianity and God out of the public square, not to be seen or heard, suing those who utter prayer or display their faith, and relegating them to homes and churches, behind closed doors.  Americans have stood by passively and let them do this.

Amerikan Colleges and Universities

Colleges and universities have long despised Christianity, most recently Tufts University, when in October the students voted to “de-recognize” Tufts Christian Fellowship, the largest evangelical group on the 10,000-student campus.  This Christian group was accused, by the ironically named, “Tufts Coalition Against Religious Exclusion” of “hate speech” because of its “basic Biblical truths of Christianity,” which included its beliefs about homosexuality.

There was a time when a person espousing the pleasures of sex with animals and the practice of infanticide and euthanasia of those deemed unworthy to live would have been condemned by all Americans for being the perverted ideas of the most diabolical degenerate.

But not in an Amerikan university.  Fordham University has invited a panel discussion titled “Conference with Peter Singer: Christians and Other Animals: Moving the Conversation Forward.” This is a Jesuit university that was founded in 1841 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of New York, Fordham University.  Ann Coulter, conservative, was deemed “hateful and needlessly provocative” by the university’s president, Fr. Joseph McShane, S.J.

Religious Leaders have a Choice.

It is especially painful to witness religious leaders devolve into either ignoring or twisting the teachings of their own faith, in order to not offend the Amerikans.   Amerikans want those pastors to be more “inclusive” of homosexuality, perform gay marriages, and to be more sympathetic and accepting of the choice a female makes to destroy the person who is growing in her womb.

The Old and New Testaments haven’t changed.  These pastors have chosen to fall away from moral teachings of the Bible, choosing to go with the flow of the mainstream.

Other religious leaders live and preach in America.  Linda Turley-Hansen, a columnist who writes for the East Valley Tribune wrote an excellent article titled “Stuck in America.”

"It’s unthinkable that Obama was re-elected despite his weak foreign policy, sullied even more by something awful in Benghazi, despite “Fast and Furious,” despite the whispered message directed to Russian President Putin, despite his unending spending and abuse of the law-making system, despite his shady associates, and his suspicious Muslim affinity."

And then she offers hope, referencing a religious leader, Fr. John Lankeit of the Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Phoenix, who is standing strong in his faith and true to the teachings of the Bible.  This religious leader calls upon his congregation to adhere to those moral teachings as well.

"The Very Rev. Fr. John Lankeit reminds Catholics that the first and second commandments require they love God and their neighbors. Yet political correctness reigns as a “false God.” It promotes tolerance of sin, which is not truth, nor love. Again, love of God and neighbor cannot be separated from truth, .

"And, then Lankeit rocks the sleepers: Religious Freedom is our most important freedom; sanctity of marriage and of life cannot be compromised. Voting for candidates who promote abortion and gay marriage is a “mortal sin.”

Here is another pastor who has done the same, Bishop E. W. Jackson, president of S.T.A.N.D. (Staying True to America’s National Destiny)

Americans Have a Choice.

We can choose American schools for our children that respect the Founders’ emphasis on teaching five tenets that run through much of their writings:

1. Recognition and worship of a Creator who made all things.

2. That the Creator has revealed a moral code of behavior for happy living which distinguishes right from wrong.

3. That the Creator holds mankind responsible for the way they treat each other.

4. That all mankind live beyond this life.

5. That in the next life individuals are judged for their conduct in this one."

We can choose to send our children to American colleges and universities where Jesus and God are welcome.   We can choose to listen to religious leaders who follow the moral code presented to us in the Old and New Testaments, and are not afraid to preach that moral code to their followers.  We can choose to act on our faith.

Or we can choose to participate in an ever more toxic Amerika.

As Fr. John Lankeit stated when he made reference to our unsustainable financial future and the fiscal cliff, “The moral cliff we are facing is infinitely more deadly.”
