Please Reelect Jared Taylor for Gilbert Town Council

(Gilbert Watch welcomes this guest letter by Jared Taylor, who is currently serving as the Vice Mayor in Gilbert. He has lived in Gilbert since 1996 with his wife and three daughters.)

Over the last few years, Gilbert has been showered in recognitions. I’m running for re-election to build on our strengths, address our challenges, and keep Gilbert the best place to grow a family and build a business.

Here are a few of the recognitions our wonderful residents and Town have earned: 22nd Best Place to Live (Money Magazine, 2014); 2nd Safest City in the US (Law Street Media, 2016); Best City for Raising a Family (Move.org, 2016); 7th Happiest City in America (Zippia, 2016), and Top 5 Safest Cities to Build Your Startup (Tech.Co, 2016).

We couldn’t live in a better place at a better time. Who would have thought that Gilbert would have grown from “The Hay Capitol of the World” to one of the most successful cities or towns in the US?

My appreciation goes to the many wonderful residents and Town leaders who have made Gilbert so great.

While we have had tremendous success, we continue to need strong leadership to address the challenges we face.

Over the last few decades, a large part of Gilbert’s budget has come from construction sales taxes.

Outing Ray Strauss, the Phony Conservative Running Against Rep. Paul Gosar in AZ-4

Did you receive the FALSE flyer paid for by Right Way Super-PAC stating that Paul Gosar (CD4) voted against funding for our military and their families? I suggest you read this article titled Outing Ray Strauss, the Phony Conservative Running Against Rep. Paul Gosar in AZ-4.   In my own experience, Rep. Gosar is one of the most Conservative, Constitutional, pro-military representatives in Congress. Ray Strauss is the opposite.  "Rep. Gosar’s reputation as a fighter for the conservative agenda has left him as one of the few reliable full spectrum conservatives in the House."

The article begins:

It requires a breathtaking level of deceit to attempt to run to the right of limited government constitutional conservative Congressman Paul Gosar and attack him as an “insider.”

But with the help of a shadowy lobbyist-funded PAC – Right Way PAC – which was founded by K Street insider Daniel Flynn, that is exactly what Gosar’s challenger Ray Strauss is trying to do.

Gilbert Watch Supports Warren Petersen for Arizona Senate

It has never been more important than now to elect solid conservatives with a voting record that backs up their rhetoric.  So it is with Warren Petersen, who is running for Arizona Senate in LD12.  As a state representative, he stood up for families and the unborn, for local support and control of education, and for the independent business person.  His votes are testimony to his fight against overbearing regulations that hurt businesses and our economy.  He has repeatedly protected our Second Amendment rights.  Rep. Petersen is very knowledgeable about complex issues, and he knows how to protect the hard-working taxpayer from the big spenders at the Capitol.

Jake Hoffman for Queen Creek Council: Op-Ed

Queen Creek Council candidate Jake Hoffman recently published an Op-Ed that appeared in AZ Central titled My Turn: 3 ways to spend new Queen Creek money.

I invite you to read it and comment.  Always forward thinking, Hoffman was the clearest, most conservative voice during his term as a Higley Unified School District board member.  In like manner, Jake Hoffman has laid out a plan for how  Queen Creek can best utilize the new mid-decade census money it is slated to receive over the next four years.  With a town in desperate need of roads and a gross indebtedness of nearly $200 million, it is of paramount importance that this new revenue be strategically earmarked to address Queen Creek’s most pressing priorities.

Jake has asked that you vote for both him and Natasha Schaeler to the town council on August 30.  They will be consistent voices for the priorities that matter most to Queen Creek citizens.

Bruce Barton Passes, Husband of Rep. Brenda Barton

LD6 Representative Brenda Barton  lost her husband, Bruce, suddenly, following a brief hospitalization.  Bruce was Rep. Barton’s right arm.  Like Brenda, Bruce was a passionate patriot, a defender and fighter for individual liberty, at a time when too many people look to government to solve their problems. He was completely devoted to Brenda. He will be painfully missed. May Brenda feel God’s comfort and Light as she carries on.  Please pray for Brenda and her family during this very difficult time.

Il Silencio

Thank you Christopher Ames for sharing this.

Please take a moment to read this introduction and then listen to the beautiful trumpet of a 13 year old young lady who plays with an Angel on her shoulder!  About six miles from Maastricht, in the Netherlands, lay buried 8,301 American soldiers who died in "Operation Market Garden" in the battles to liberate Holland in the fall and winter of 1944. Every one of the men buried in the cemetery, as well as those in the British and Canadian military cemeteries, has been adopted by a Dutch family who mind the grave, decorate it, and keep alive the memory of the soldier they have adopted. It is even the custom to keep a portrait of "their" American, British or Canadian soldier in a place of honor in their home. Annually, on "Liberation Day," May 4th, memorial services are held for "the men who died to liberate Holland." The day concludes with a concert.  The final piece is always "Il Silenzio" a memorial piece commissioned by the Dutch and first played in 1965 on the 20th anniversary of Holland’s liberation. It has been the concluding piece of the memorial concert ever since.
